It isn't what you think. A healthy food snob is not an annoyingly picky elitist who makes you feel bad about your habits. In fact, she does not believe she is better than anyone else is not condescending about your food choices. The reality is that she wishes we were all healthy food snobs. She is just a particular woman who
.......places a high priority on her health and the health of others
.......values quality food choices over convenience, calories, and hype
.......doesn’t believe in diets, but
........makes daily healthy choices to invest in her body and her future well-being.
Her pickiness is not even really snobbery, it is a uncompromising commitment to feeding her body with healthy, clean, wholesome, and nutritious food. Food that is in its natural state, as unprocessed as possible.
She is aware of the connection between her environment and her health, and recognizes that food produced in harmony with the environment is healthiest for her and the future of the planet. She realizes that modern, new approaches aren’t necessarily better than tried and true methods. Sometimes, the long, hard, time-consuming way is actually the best way. But she is also open-minded and willing to find ways to modernize old approaches while still maintaining their wholesomeness. She has a curious mind, and remains open to learn current health issues or old wisdom that is new to her. She is discerning with regard to health information, and doesn’t let advertising dictate her beliefs or food choices. Rather, she has a health compass that guides her towards whole foods, a wide variety of vegetables and fruit, and a mostly plant-based diet. She is conscious and curious about where her food comes from, how it is grown. When she chooses animal foods, she is careful to assure the quality and methods of farming. She eschews labels with regard to eating approaches. Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Foodist--these restrictions get in the way of allowing her flexibility to eat the healthiest diet possible and suggest that if she can’t follow an 100%-whatever diet, that she is falling short. What matters most, is a balanced, healthful diet, that includes treats, too, in moderation. Even if the treat is a hamburger or a big piece of cake. She eats a diet that makes her feel vibrant, alive, energized, and satisfied. She considers her eating choices her personal investment in her health, and is passionate about making them as good as she can.
